Our trip to China- Yunnan

At the airport in Hong Kong, waiting to fly to Kunming

Green Lake park in Kunming. Our hotel was just across from this park, in a really nice part of town

We have no clue what was going on here, but they were having a ball of a time!

This was a sign in our bathroom in our hotel. We never did find that floor slide...

So intangible we couldn't find it!

Picture on a wall in a temple

Old man asleep sitting up. This was in 'Old town' Kunming, were the locals still wear the blue Mao hats like this gent has.

This was our hostel room in Yuan Yuang. It was amazing! It was called the Photographers Hostel. the view out the shower room was amazing.

Ben at the restaurant in the above mentioned hostel. They had amazing food, and the owner is a professional photographer, so he knew the good spots to go for photos. This picture was taken just before an almighty thunderstorm. It was amazing, you could see it coming from down the valley for miles.

Early, and I do me early, in the morning to catch the sunrise over some of the rice terraces

First glimps at the amazing terraces

This is to give some scale to the enormity of the rice terraces.

A local Hani woman and her child. The girl is wearing the traditional dress headdress. The mother is wearing the everyday headdress.

After hiking on  a trail to a viewing platform, I happened to look up and see this very pretty spider. It looked like it had gold leaf on its back. Then I looked beyond this one spider, and realised that there were THOUSANDS of spiders, right above the trail we had just come up. See picture below. Needless to say, we sprinted back down the trail!

Local house in Yuan Yuang. The hanging things are corn drying

Me and some local pigglets!

Here is a scenic shot, but look at the below shot, almost identical, except for an Unidentified flying object in the middle of the image. Oooh, maybe it was aliens!

Ben in the rice fields

Panoramic shot of a valley. Click on the picture if you want to see it bigger

Man plowing the rice field

Ben tries on the local outfits. The women were having a ball of a time dressing him- this is usually what the women wear.

At the local market day. This is a woman carrying her child

Chiles

Let's play 'Spot the illegal medicinal ingredients'. Not sure what everything on this table is, but I am sure most of it would be on an endangered list somewhere...
